The EU elections are always a joke. This y...Hey G,<br /><br />The EU elections are always a joke. This year's turnout was the same as in 2009 (43%): that's how much connected to Europe people are. And why the lack of connection? Due to lack of information - people just do not know what the EU is all about, what it does for them, who is in charge and thus they believe that Germany runs the whole show by itself (when it doesn't). <br /><br />The rise of the far right and left should make Euro politicians think and for once I agree with Hollande: the EU has grown too complex, too intrusive and it needs to cut back on its competences, to focus solely on Trade and the Single Market (which is what 56% of the EU citizens like the most about the Union anyway).<br />In sum, let's go back to the original spirit of the EU as per the Treaty of Rome. <br /><br />Excellent article, G.<br /><br />CheersMax Coutinhohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12588149349270422294noreply@blogger.com
